There’s 72 days left of 2013. Maybe a bit less when you’re reading this but nevertheless, that’s most definitely enough to create a new habit and make 2013 a great year even if you’ve stumbled a bit so far. To make sure I keep up with the new habits, I decided to let out the artist within me and draw up the calendar you can see on the image above (inspired by Jerry Seinfeld).
Don’t break the chain.
The idea is to put a big red X every day you go through with your new habit. As time goes, you’ll have a long chain of red X:s and you’ll do anything to avoid breaking it.
There’s plenty of apps and printable calendars available but I decided to use the back of a gift wrapping paper. It’s inexpensive and almost everyone has some at home. Just make sure your pen doesn’t go through or use a bit of cardboard behind to save your walls.
What’s a good habit then? Well, it obviously depends on your goals. Maybe it’s time to overcome your sugar addiction or maybe you want to avoid eating fast food. Personally I want to take my cooking to the next level so I’ll eat at least one home made meal, every day, for the next 72 days. It might not sound difficult but when you work beside a restaurant and live on top of a pizza place – it suddenly gets very tempting to just order some food instead of making it yourself.
What’s your goals for 2013?
