If I were to give only one advice to someone trying to lose weight I would ask them to change their beverage. E.g. apple juice contains roughly 45 kcal per 100 ml and a regular glas contain 2 dl. As a result – one single glas of juice contains 90 kcal and most people tend to drink at least 3 glases during their meal. If they have three meals a day, they will drink no less than 810 kcal!
Think about how much more you could eat if you had an extra 810 kcal a day by replacing your juice and soft drinks with regular water.
Sometimes you might want to get a bit more taste – maybe for a special occasion such as a weekeend. Try carbonating the water, add a slice of lemon, orange or cucumber. You can even use diet soda even if I don’t recommend it.
Just remember that all of these (carbonic acid and lemon) will harm your teeth so try and minimize the amount you consume and make sure you drink some regular water afterwards to reduce the damage.
